Monash University has just recorded its strongest-ever result in the QS World University Rankings 2027, rising to #31 in the world — up from joint 36th the year before. It is now one of the most highly ranked members of Australia's prestigious Group of Eight, and posted the biggest improvement of any Go8 university this year.

One Monash, two campuses you can choose from

Monash is a truly global university. Alongside its main campuses in Melbourne, Australia, it runs a full campus in Bandar Sunway, Selangor — Monash University Malaysia. Both are part of the same university, teach the same Monash curriculum, and award the same Monash degree. Where you study is your choice; the qualification is identical.

The pathway: MUFY → Monash

Most students enter Monash through the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) — the university's own pre-university programme. It is broadly equivalent to Australian Year 12, runs over roughly 9–11 months (two semesters), and is taught in a flexible, modular way. You choose subjects that match the degree you're aiming for, and on successful completion you progress into an undergraduate degree at Monash.

Do you qualify for MUFY?

Entry is achievable for most committed students:

• Academic: a pass with at least 5 credits (grade C or above) at IGCSE / O-Level / SPM, including English — or 3 Bs at UEC, including English.
• English: if you don't have a credit in English, you can qualify with IELTS 5.5 (writing 5.5, no band below 5.0).
• To progress to your degree: pass your MUFY units and meet the minimum average required for your chosen Monash course.

Study on two continents: the Global Intercampus Program

Because Monash Malaysia and Monash Australia are the same university, students can move between them. Through the Global Intercampus Program, a Monash Malaysia student can spend a semester studying at the Melbourne campus — keeping their enrolment and earning credit towards the very same degree. Some students also choose a permanent campus transfer, continuing their candidature in Australia.
