Every GL Academy level maps to a CEFR band and an IELTS range, so a university offer can be worked back to a start date.

Intensive IELTS entry begins at Pre-Intermediate. Students below that level join the Intensive English Programme first and move across when they are ready. A placement test sets your starting level; every four weeks an assessment covers all four skills and decides whether you move up.
See the Intensive English ProgrammeIELTS 4.0, CEFR B1, or equivalent. A placement test on entry confirms your level and sets a realistic target band. Students below that level join the Intensive English Programme first and move across when they are ready.
Through our online placement test. The result sets your starting level and your IELTS class before your first day.
The placement test decides. Students usually begin in the Band 5.5 class and progress into Band 6.5 once their level supports it. Teachers review readiness every four weeks — nobody is held back, and nobody is pushed too early.
We strongly suggest improving your overall English first with our Intensive English Programme. Once you reach Pre-Intermediate (around IELTS 4.0), you can move across to Intensive IELTS Preparation.
The course prepares you for IELTS Academic.
28 teaching hours a week. Mornings and afternoons are spent in the Intensive English Programme, and your IELTS class runs from 16:30 to 18:00 on two evenings a week.
No more than fifteen students, grouped by CEFR level. Every written task comes back with your own band estimate and one thing to fix.
A new term begins every four weeks. Each semester is eight weeks and opens with a new intake; a mid-semester intake starts four weeks later. Classes close at fifteen students, so earlier enquiries get the wider choice of start dates.
In person, at our campus in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
Usually around two months per band. Your teachers review your progress every four weeks.
