More Than Just English.
Real
Communication.
The Intensive English Programme (IEP) is GL Academy's flagship full-day course — six and a half hours of focused, immersive English instruction every weekday.
Unlike evening or weekend classes, the IEP is designed for students who are serious about progress. Whether you're arriving in Malaysia with zero English, preparing for a university entry requirement, or simply wanting to communicate confidently in your daily life and career — this programme is built around your goal.
Every student is individually assessed on enrolment and placed in the right GL Academy level. As you progress, you move up the CEFR ladder — and your path ahead is always clear.
Small, Focused Classes
Every class is kept small so your trainer can give you direct, personalised attention — not a lecture hall.
Native-Speaking Trainers
All IEP classes are led by native English speakers — so you learn natural pronunciation, rhythm, and expression from day one.
Measurable Progress
You'll be assessed at regular intervals and receive clear feedback on where you are on the CEFR scale — so progress is never a guess.
Clear Pathway Forward
Once you reach your target CEFR level, your next step is already mapped — whether that's IELTS preparation, Business English, or graduation.
Built on the World's
Most Trusted Course.
The GL Academy IEP is structured around Headway by Oxford University Press — the world's best-selling English language course, trusted by millions of learners and educators across more than 100 countries.
Every GL Academy level follows the Headway framework directly. This means your progress is internationally benchmarked from day one — and the skills you build here are recognised everywhere.

Yes. Every new student takes a free placement test before their first class. This determines your starting GL Academy level and the corresponding CEFR band — so you're placed in exactly the right class from day one, not too easy and not too challenging.
Each level includes two formal assessments: a mid-term and a final. These give you a clear picture of your progress and determine whether you are ready to advance. Your teacher will also provide ongoing feedback throughout the term so there are never any surprises.
We deliberately keep our classes small to ensure every student gets direct, personalised attention from their teacher. Our priority is always the learner — class sizes are managed so that no student is left behind or overlooked.
