GL Academy is authorised to support student visa applications for courses of 4 months or longer. Here's everything you need to know β who qualifies, what to prepare, and what happens after you arrive.
Eligibility
Requirements.
You must meet all three of the following criteria to be eligible for a GL Academy student visa application.
Valid Passport
Your passport must have a minimum of 18 months validity remaining at the time of application. Single-page copies of all pages are required.
High School Certificate
You must possess a high school graduation certificate or equivalent. Documents not in English must be translated and notarized by a certified authority.
Age 18 β 45
Applicants must be between 18 and 45 years of age at the time of application. Students below 18 are not eligible for a student visa.

Prepare all five documents before submitting your application to GL Academy's International Office. Incomplete applications will cause delays.
Passport Copy β All Pages
A clear photocopy of every page of your passport, including the cover, biographical page, and all blank pages. Passport must have at least 18 months validity remaining.
Passport Photo
A recent photo against a white background, meeting EMGS specifications for size, lighting, and expression. Using a non-compliant photo is a common reason for rejection.

Your graduation certificate and full academic transcript. If the original documents are not in English, they must be translated into English and notarized by a certified authority before submission.
CSSD Academic Verification Chinese Students Only
Students from China are required to verify their academic credentials through the China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center (CSSD) before their documents can be accepted.

Your student visa obligations don't end at the airport. Two steps must be completed promptly after you arrive β both are mandatory.
Medical Checkup at an EMGS Panel Clinic
All students who arrive in Malaysia on a student visa are required to complete a medical examination at an EMGS-registered panel clinic within 7 days of landing. This is a legal requirement β missing this window can affect your visa status.

Following your medical examination, you are required to submit your passport to the International Office of Global Leaders Academy. Our team will handle the remaining administrative and immigration processes on your behalf.

The student visa is valid from 4 months up to a maximum of 12 months, depending on the duration of your enrolled course at GL Academy.
Unfortunately, no. The student visa requires applicants to be at least 18 years of age. If you are below 18, you are not eligible to apply. Please contact us to discuss alternative study options.
Yes, you can study at GL Academy while on a tourist visa (Social Visit Pass). A student visa is required if you intend to enrol in a course of 4 months or longer and wish to have formal immigration status as a student.
Processing times vary depending on a number of factors including document completeness, country of origin, and current application volumes. As a general guide, expect approximately 4 to 7 weeks. Please note that all student visa approvals are at the discretion of the Malaysian Immigration Department β GL Academy cannot guarantee timelines.
No. In accordance with Malaysian immigration law, holders of a student visa are not permitted to work in any capacity during their stay. Violations of this condition can result in visa cancellation and deportation.
No. The student visa cannot be renewed beyond the 12-month maximum. If you wish to continue studying after your visa expires, you will need to discuss your options with GL Academy's International Office well in advance of your expiry date.
