GL Academy currently offers A-level tuition in eight subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Studies, and Law. These cover the most sought-after combinations for university entry in the sciences, mathematics, humanities, and law pathways.

The standard is three A-levels, which is sufficient for entry to virtually all UK and Australian universities including Oxford and Cambridge. Some students take four A-levels — this is worth considering if you are targeting Cambridge or Oxford for Mathematics or Engineering, where Further Mathematics alongside Mathematics is expected. We will advise you based on your specific university goals.

GL Academy prepares students for Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and Edexcel. We align your tuition to whichever of these boards your school or examination centre uses. Contact us to confirm which board applies to you.

For Mathematics at Cambridge and Oxford, Further Mathematics is required — both universities list it explicitly in their entry requirements. For Engineering at Cambridge, Further Mathematics is strongly preferred and most successful applicants hold it. For Engineering at other Russell Group universities (Imperial, Bristol, Bath, etc.), it is not required but significantly strengthens your application. We will advise specifically based on your target universities.

For Oxford and Cambridge, standard offers are A*A*A to A*AA depending on the subject. For Russell Group universities (LSE, Imperial, Edinburgh, Manchester, Warwick), typical offers range from A*AA to AAA. For strong UK universities (Bath, Nottingham, Glasgow, Lancaster), offers are typically AAA to ABB. For Australia's Group of Eight (Melbourne, Sydney, ANU, Monash, UNSW), A-level equivalencies are approximately ABB or above for most undergraduate programmes. Ideally at the start of Year 12 (Lower Sixth) — beginning early allows genuine conceptual understanding to develop rather than cramming. A-level content is substantially more demanding than IGCSE, and students who start tuition at the beginning consistently outperform those who join in Year 13. That said, we also run intensive Year 13 preparation programmes for students who join closer to their examination date.

GL Academy offers both group and private tuition for A-levels. Group classes are capped at a maximum of 6 students — small enough for direct attention and individual feedback in every session. For students who need more intensive support or have specific individual needs, private (1-to-1) sessions are available. Class acceptance is subject to an internal assessment to ensure correct level placement.
